- April 1, 2026: Enrollment for Summer 2026 programming opens (classes will not be in the new building)

How Enrollment at Maritime|253 works
Maritime|253 is not a high school, students remain enrolled at their high school but spend half their day at the skills center. We offer a morning and an afternoon session. Enrollment is open to all high-school students in the South Sound. Member school districts, which include Tacoma Public Schools, Vashon Island School District, Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, Orting School District, Bethel School District and University Place Public Schools, have a guaranteed number of seats. Students from non-member districts will be accepted based on available space, and with a signed shared student agreement from their home district.
Courses are advanced, and we typically recommend students be in their junior or senior year.

Current Tacoma Public School students are asked to complete an online enrollment questionnaire.
I live outside of Tacoma Public School boundaries
Students attending Maritime|253 will continue to be enrolled at their high school, but it is necessary that families complete the Tacoma Public Schools enrollment process.
Families who have never enrolled a child in Tacoma Public Schools will need to create a new ParentVUE account.
