Maritime|253 continues to move toward opening this September with the support of seven member school districts: Chief Leschi, Sumner-Bonney Lake School District, University Place School District, Vashon Island School District, Orting School District, Fife Public Schools, and Franklin Pierce Schools.
As member districts, each has guaranteed seats for its students and its superintendent serves on the Maritime|253 governing board, helping shape program offerings, partnerships, and long-term direction. This collaborative structure ensures that students across the region have access to hands-on learning aligned with the maritime, technology, port operations, logistics, sustainability, and advanced manufacturing industries.
Maritime|253 is open to all high school students in the South Sound. Beginning in fall 2026, students will spend half their school day at the new skills center, gaining industry-recognized credentials, earning college credits, and preparing for high-demand, high-paying careers connected to Washington’s maritime economy.
